Today, I will be sharing with you some historical pictures of Nigerian president, General Mohammadu Buhari as a young soldier.

General Mohammadu Buhari (rtd), is a Nigerian politician who has been president of Nigeria, since, 2015 after defeating the incumbent president in the presidential election. He still holds the position till date after being reelected in 2019.

Gen. Mohammadu Buhari was born 17 December 1942 in Duara, Northern Nigeria.

Burial retired a General of the Nigerian Army and served as military head of state from 1983 to 1985, after taking power in a military coup d'état.

At age 19 he enrolled in the Nigerian Military Training College (NMTC) in 1962 while at age 20, Buhari was commissioned a second lieutenant and appointed Platoon Commander.

Buhari alongside several young officers from Northern Nigeria, took part in the July counter-coup which ousted General Aguiyi Ironsi replacing him with General Yakubu Gowon.Buhari acted as the Federal Commissioner for Petroleum and Natural Resources (now minister) and first chairman of NNPC when it was newly created in 1977.

He was also the first Borno state Governor.
